Born in Norristown, PA, Jay Slough grew up in Coventryville, PA. From an early age, he developed a passion for many sports including tennis, soccer, baseball, golf, squash and lacrosse. During his five years at the Hill School in Pottstown, PA, he was an 11-time varsity letter winner in soccer, squash and lacrosse, earning All-State honors in soccer and All-American honors in squash and lacrosse. In addition to serving as team captain for all three sports his senior year, Jay won the school squash championship two times and led his team to the number one ranking in the nation for prep schools in 1990 . He also set a new soccer record at the Hill School with 58 goals in his career. Jay was selected to play on the Under-17 USA soccer team and traveled to Europe in 1989 to compete in various tournaments including the prestigious Gotha and Dana Cups.

Although he was recruited to play soccer, squash and lacrosse at Yale, Princeton, the University of Pennsylvania and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Jay instead accepted a presidential nomination to the United States Naval Academy. At Annapolis, Jay excelled in both squash and lacrosse. He won the Naval Academy squash championship 3 years in a row, compiled a 58-8 record and was selected as a four-time All-American, only the third player in school history to achieve that distinction. During his first class (senior) year, Jay served as the squash team captain.

As a member of the lacrosse team, Jay earned top offensive player of the year twice, top mid-fielder of the year twice and Most Valuable Player once. He earned All-American honors three years in a row and was invited to try out for the U.S. national lacrosse team. Jay was also chosen as the Most Valuable Player during the 1994 North versus South lacrosse game, comprised of the top senior collegiate lacrosse players in the country.

At the end of his first class year, he was inducted in the Naval Academy Hall of Fame and received the Naval Academy Athletic Association Sword for Men, awarded to the man of the graduating class who is considered to have personally excelled in men's athletics during his years of varsity competition. He was also the recipient of the Thompson Trophy, given to the midshipman who has done the most during the year to promote athletics at the Naval Academy. It was only the third time that a Naval Academy athlete won both awards since Roger Staubach received both in 1964. He was awarded the Barb Squash Trophy for winning the Academy school championship three years in a row, and the Vice Admiral E. C. Waller Lacrosse Award, presented to the individual who contributed most to the spirit, morale, and well being of the lacrosse team.

In May 1994, Jay received his Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and was commissioned a second lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. He reported to The Basic School in Quantico, VA, to learn the fundamentals of becoming a Marine Corps officer. After graduation from the Basic School, Jay reported to Naval Air Station Pensacola for flight training. After completing two months of academics, Jay reported to Naval Air Station Whiting Field, FL for primary flight training in the T-34 Mentor. After six months, he graduated first in his class of twenty-five pilots. He proceeded to Naval Air Station Meridian, MS for intermediate jet training in T-2 Buckeye and received follow-on orders to Naval Air Station Kingsville, TX for advanced jet training in the T-45 Goshawk. During his time as a student aviator, Jay won three bombing awards, two air-to-air combat awards and once again, graduated first in his class.

Jay reported to Marine Strike Fighter Training Squadron ONE ZERO ONE (VMFAT-101) in the summer of 1997 and began training in the F/A-18 Hornet by the end of the year. During that time he utilized his off duty hours to refine his golfing skills. Within a period of four months he established a 1.1 handicap index and proceeded to win the El Toro Men's Club Championship, his first competitive golf tournament. He received orders to Marine Strike Fighter Squadron TWO THREE TWO (VFMA-232) at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, CA in February 1999 and deployed twice to Japan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. While on his first deployment, Jay won the Iwakuni Men's Club Championship, his second competitive tournament, with only five clubs. He also earned his Air Combat Instructor Certification (ACTI) in the summer of 2001. During this tour, he held a variety of jobs in the squadron, including maintenance division officer, operations and scheduling officer, safety officer and logistics officer.

He was next assigned to Marine Air Group ELEVEN (MAG-11) in June 2002 and served as the communications officer, providing guidance and oversight for ten Marine Corps squadrons with over 2000 personnel. Jay was directly responsible for the planning of the communications layout and structure in Al Jabbar, Kuwait during Operation Iraqi Freedom, which allowed critical information flow for all Marine Corps' Air assets in the region

After this tour, Jay returned to VMFAT-101 as an instructor pilot. In addition to training future F/A-18 pilots, he also served as the logistical officer leading six individuals to provide support for the largest squadron in the Marine Corps. Further proving his skills and talent on the golf course, he also won the All Marine Golf Championship in 2004. In May 2005, Jay will compete his military career as a Marine Corps MAJ with eleven years of active duty service and over 1500 flight hours in various types of aircraft. His military awards include the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (2nd award), National Defense Service Ribbon (2 nd award), Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

After his Marine Corps service, Jay Slough has pursued a professional golfing career with the primary goal of playing on the PGA Tour. In order to fund his training towards a PGA Tour card, Jay has started his own company called Jay Slough Venture LLC. Over the past year and a half, Jay has  competed in over 50 professional events, winning three and developing his game along the way.

In 2007, Jay plans to play the US Pro Golf Tour and  fifteen Nationwide events, the fastest way on tour.  Currently he plays out of the Golf Club of California in Fallbrook, CA. Jay resides in Vista, CA with his wife Laura and their three children, Summer, Ally and Ty.
